Geriatric Psychiatry - Inpatient

The Geropsychiatry Services Department (GPU) provides mental health resources for inpatient and outpatient adults, age 65 and older. We accept referrals from many sources, including families, health care providers; social service/home care agencies, mental health centers, and nursing homes.

The hospital's 10-bed inpatient Geriatric Psychiatry Unit cares for seniors who are struggling with psychiatric challenges, including dementia, Alzheimer's disease, behavioral issues, major depression and mental illness. The team is comprised of geriatric psychiatrists, a nurse practitioner, nurses, social workers, and therapists working together to help patients live as comfortably as possible.

Inpatient Visiting Hours: Visitors are asked to come on weekdays from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., and on weekends from 1 to 8 p.m. Exceptions are made based upon special needs of patients or their families. Please discuss your needs with the nurse when your loved one is admitted. When entering, visitors are asked to report to the nursing station. For more information or to check the status of a patient, please contact our Geropsychiatry Unit at (603) 335-8171. If you are calling for a referral please call (603) 335-8871.
