Steven Poggi

Steven Poggi is a Senior Manager of Engineering for Waste Management where he is responsible for the planning, design, permitting and construction activities at the company's operations in New England. He has worked for Waste Management in the Rochester area for more than 24 years. Prior to joining  Waste Management, he worked for two environmental engineering consulting firms on solid waste projects for various municipal and private clients throughout the Country. He earned a BS in Civil Engineering at the University of New Hampshire and is a registered Professional Engineer in New Hampshire and Maine.

Poggi is a current member of the Leadership New Hampshire program. He has been active in the Business and Industry Association, Environmental Affairs committee and has served as a board member with the Stafford County YMCA and the Greater Manchester Family YMCA.

Alvin Felgar
President/CEO

Alvin Felgar has been CEO of Frisbie Memorial Hospital since 1993. Before coming to FMH, he served as CEO at Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, NH, Charter Winds Hospital in Athens, Georgia and Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mr. Felgar received his BA from Grove City College in Pennsylvania and MHA from Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.

He is a member of the Rochester Rotary Club, Past Board Chairman of the NH Hospital Association, as well as a past board member of the Liberty Mutual Advisory Board, Rochester Chamber of Commerce and Rochester Economic Development Commission. Mr. Felgar was the recipient of the 2006 Rochester Chamber Business Leader of the Year, 2005 Civic Award/Salvation Army, 2001 Presidents Award/NH Hospital Association, and 1998 Good Scout Award (BSA).


John Marzinzik
Vice President of Finance

John Marzinzik has a long history of serving in the financial field within the hospital environment. In 1980, he started as Director of Billing & Information Systems at North Adams Regional Hospital in North Adams, Massachusetts. Prior to becoming the Chief Financial Officer of Frisbie Memorial Hospital in 1993, Marzinzik was Vice President of Finance and Facilities at Exeter Hospital in Exeter, NH. Marzinzik has also served as Comptroller for Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon, Illinois.

He earned a BS in Business Administration at Northeastern University and his MBA from the University of Massachusetts.

Marzinzik is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He is also a board member with the Medical Mutual Insurance Company of Maine.


Deborah Shipman
Vice President, Ancillary Services

Deb Shipman has worked in healthcare senior management since 1980 and has held an executive level position for the past 14 years. She began her healthcare career in the accounting and finance area where she spent 10 years as a CFO, first at Crotched Mountain Foundation, Greenfield, NH and then at Monadnock Community Hospital, Peterborough, NH. She decided to make a change from finance into operations in 2007 and joined Frisbie Memorial Hospital (FMH) in June, 2008.

In her role as Vice President for Ancillary Services for FMH, Ms. Shipman also serves as President of Strafford Health Alliance, a 50/50 joint venture between Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH and FMH.

She has a BS in Accounting and Finance from Babson College, Wellesley, MA and an MBA from Southern NH University.

Ms. Shipman is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Financial Management Association where she served on the NH/VT Chapter Board for seven years and as President from 2007 to 2008.


Karen Dutcher, RN
Vice President of Patient Services

Karen Dutcher joined Frisbie Memorial Hospital in 1994 as Vice President of Patient Care Services. Before coming to FMH, Ms. Dutcher spent more than 20 years in various hospital leadership positions including Director of Operations at Allegheny Neuropsychiatric Institute and in Nurse Manager positions at Dartmouth Medical Center in Hanover, NH.

Ms. Dutcher earned her Masters of Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University, Bachelor of Science from New England College and her Nursing Diploma from Mary Hitchcock School of Nursing. She's a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and the VHA New England Nurse Executive Council.

In her current role, Karen provides administrative/leadership support to Infection Control, Care Management, Geropsychiatry, Emergency Services, Center for Cancer Care and nursing services.


Paula Mahoney
Vice President of Physician Practice Services

Paula Mahoney is a graduate of Boston University with a degree in Communications. Mahoney has over 30 years of progressive experience in dental and medical practice management with focus on Provider Relations, Physician/Hospital Alignment and Quality Patient Experience and Outcomes.


Joe Shields
Vice President, Planning & Project Management.

Joe Shields has nearly 30 years experience in hospital management. In addition to the development and implementation of the hospital's strategic planning processes, Mr. Shields also oversees the hospital's construction and renovation projects as well as physician recruitment efforts.

Prior to coming to Frisbie, Mr. Shields was the Director of Marketing Projects at the Osteopathic Hospital of Maine in Portland, and before that the Director of Community Relations at Cheshire Hospital in Keene, NH.

Mr. Shields has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh and an MBA from Nasson College.

He is a certified Member of the American College of Healthcare Administration, and has served on numerous Boards of area non-profit organizations.


Carol Themelis
Vice President of Human Resources

Prior to joining Frisbie as Vice President, Human Resources in 1992, Ms. Themelis was Sr. Vice President for Human Resources for a New Hampshire bank holding company for seven years and Vice President of Retailing Banking for Numerica Savings Bank from 1980 – 1985.

Ms. Themelis holds a BA from Plymouth University, a Certificate from Babson College Executive Human Resources Program, a graduate of the Dartmouth College Tuck Business School of Banking and the American Institute of Banking.

Ms. Themelis was Board Chair of Northeast Delta Dental for several years and was awarded the 2010 President's Award for her accomplishments as Chair of NH Hospital Association Worker's Compensation Trust.

She is currently on the Personnel Advisory board for the City of Rochester and a member of American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Association.


Ron R. Greenberg DO, FAAFP, FAEP, CPE, MMM
Vice President of Medical Affairs

Dr. Greenberg has been practicing medicine for over 20 years and holds three Board of Certification degrees in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Medical Management. He has also earned Fellowship titles in Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine and has an Executive MBA in Medical Management from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.

Dr. Greenberg brings to Frisbie his extensive experiences as a Physician and Leader in outpatient, inpatient and acute care facilities. He started his career in Jupiter, Florida where he practiced in a small privately owned clinic before moving to the mountains of Colorado at Winter Park. There he practiced Family and Emergency Medicine and served as the Director of both the Family practice clinic and the Emergency Department. In the community, he served the area by being the Medical Director of Sol-Vista Ski Mountain, EMS (Emergency Medical Services), Area Trauma Advisory Council and the Rocky Mountain National Park. In 2002, Dr Greenberg moved to Wisconsin where he practiced Emergency Medicine and held multiple leadership positions prior to joining Frisbie Memorial Hospital in 2010 as the Vice President of Medical Affairs.

Dr. Greenberg is a Member of the American College of Physician Executives, The American College of Healthcare Executives, The American Association of Physician Specialists, The Association of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
